Who we are

Who we are

VSO Jitolee is a member of the international VSO Federation. Our core mandate is to promote volunteerism to address global poverty by enhancing the participation of disadvantaged members of society in socio-economic and political development.

We believe that the greatest impact we can have on poverty and disadvantage is sharing skills through the implementation of quality programmes in Kenya. VSO Jitolee’s local strategies and programmes are rooted in the knowledge and experience of partners and communities with whom we work - from grassroots community groups, to private sector to government ministries.

VSO Jitolee currently works through professional international volunteers, diaspora volunteers and numerous national volunteers with a variety of skills.

Our key programme works in the areas of secure livelihoods with a key focus on skills employability and entrepreneurship and inclusive education.

VSO Jitolee is unique in that we recruit East African volunteers to share their skills with partner organisations in over 30 countries across Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

As part of the VSO Federation, VSO Jitolee shares and is committed to fulfilling the common identity, mandate, vision and core values of VSO globally. Other VSO federation members include the UK, the Philippines, Ireland and the Netherlands.
