VSO Jitolee is just one of the many players involved in causing a desired change in the lives of the poor and disadvantaged in Kenya. We work in partnership with other organisations to maximise our effectiveness and impact in development.
We work closely with and through strategic partners in the civil society, government and the corporate sectors to effectively deliver the VSO Jitolee strategy, Think Impact.
Partnerships are developed at the community/local, regional and national levels. We work with local partners, placing volunteers with them to help them increase their impact and effectiveness. Each partner will have identified a need within their organisation for some additional resource and support in carrying out their activities. VSO Jitolee’s programme staff work with local partners to assess how VSO can help achieve their organisational objectives using the volunteer tools at our disposal.
VSO Jitolee works with the programme partners to achieve common objectives. The relationship is based on a common set of values, a shared vision of success and a formal mutual commitment to improve the quality of the working relationship over time. This can include both national NGOs; INGOs where the relationship is managed within Kenya; government agencies, and the private sector.

Company-community involvement
VSO Jitolee also encourages, engages and support communities through company-community involvement working through fundraising events and our Employee Volunteering Programme (EVP) [#link]. EVP facilitates improvements in the quality of life by involving the voluntary, community, public and private sectors to jointly meet the needs of the region’s development challenges by working with employees from the corporate sector.
EVP create links between corporate organisations and the communities they operate in where their experience and time is required to meet an identified need. VSO Jitolee’s EVP coordinates corporate sponsorship and donations in order to ensure equitable distribution of wealth in community projects as well as establish legitimacy of the recipients.
