IVCO 2011 Valuing Volunteering
The annual International Volunteer Cooperation Organisations (IVCO) conference sees heads of IVCOs and delegates from agencies across the world gather to discuss key contemporary issues in international volunteering and development, and share good practices in a supportive environment.
This year's conference will be held in Mombasa, Kenya, and is organised by the International FORUM on Development Service (FORUM) and VSO Jitolee.
The theme for IVCO 2011 is ValuingVolunteering.
At this year’s conference, we will explore ‘innovative approaches towards emerging issues’, which could include new ideas and practices in volunteerism and its value to national development, specifically looking at the African context while also drawing lessons from other parts of the world.
Presentations by African social innovators, FORUM member countries and African partners will be held and we will feature stimulating discussions related to two emerging issues: ‘the value of volunteering in Africa’ and ‘the state of youth volunteering in Africa’.
IVCO 2011 is proud to be part of the events marking the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10)
