Visiting Kenya

The Republic of Kenya is a country in east Africa that sits on the equator with the Indian Ocean running along its south eastern coastline.

It has a land area of 580,000km sq and a population of nearly 39 million residents, representing many different peoples and cultures. Its capital city is Nairobi.

The economy of Kenya is the largest by GDP in east and central Africa. The country traditionally produces world renowned tea and coffee, and more recently became a major exporter of fresh flowers to Europe. The service industry is driven by the telecommunications sector. Kenya is also famous for its athletes, producing world champions such as Paul Tergat and, most recently, world record holder in the 800m, David Rudisha.

Kenya offers its visitors so much to see and do. Within the borders of a single country you will find savannahs rich with big game, timeless cultures unchanged by the modern world, pristine beaches and coral reef, equatorial forests and mighty snow-capped mountains, searing deserts and cool highland retreats and endless opportunities for adventure, discovery, relaxation. Inland water bodies cover some 10,700km sq, the bulk of this being Lakes Victoria and Turkana.
