Employee volunteering

Employee volunteering (EV) is the initiative of businesses and corporate companies in Kenya and Uganda as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy to support their employees to volunteer their time and skills in the community.

It is a three-way partnership between employer, employee and the partner organisation receiving volunteers – for example, community group, non-governmental organisation, school and hospital.

Through this initiative, employees are assisted to volunteer by their employers either during work hours or their own time.

So far, VSO Jitolee has given support to General Motors East Africa, Coca Cola East and Central Africa, and DfCU Bank in Uganda in developing EV policies and programmes.
