Governance and community development roles in South Sudan

Alongside our work to support and develop basic services in health and education, we will support some developing community-based organisations created to help communities help themselves. Part of this movement includes groups offering education and training to South Sudanese women struggling to find opportunities to develop in a traditionally male-dominated society.

It is crucial that South Sudan’s people have the chance to build and shape their country’s future by developing the processes that enable civil society to engage. VSO will work with these groups to develop their processes and systems so that these organisations can continue to grow and prosper.

We need volunteers to support these communities groups to flourish.

We require volunteers with extensive knowledge of good governance and experience working in civil society and/or community development organisations. Working with a variety of grassroots organisations, you will strengthen and implement strategies, develop partnerships and build relationships with donors. You’ll also support shared advocacy agendas ensuring civil society groups are enabled to fulfil their aims.

Ready to volunteer for the challenge?

Volunteering in South Sudan will give you a unique opportunity to make a distinctive contribution to develop a country full of opportunities and challenges. We’re currently recruiting community and NGO managers, advocacy and funding managers with extensive experience of working with community develop projects, with an emphasis on marginalised groups, particularly women’s groups.
